Abbreviations:
- ch – chain
- hdc – half double crochet
- st – stitch
- tbl – the back loop
- sl-st – slip stitch

Pattern Instructions:
- ch enough stitches to have a continuous string 60″ long, [about 125 stitches]
- Join the last to the first chain by using a sl (slip stitch)
- Note: be careful not to twist the long chain as you join
- ch-2 and turn
- Row 1 – hdc into the 3rd ch from hook and each ch in all but NOT the very last hdc stitch.
- Leave the very last ch stitch before the ch-2 on the beginning of the foundation chain
- The ch-2 will serve to fill that space once you join…
- Join the last hdc using the slip stitch to the first full hdc on the start of Row 1
- ch 2 and turn
- Row 2 – hdc into tbl (the back loop) on the top of each hdc st in all but NOT the very last hdc stitch.
- Leave the very last hdc stitch before the ch-2 on the beginning of Row 1 open
- The ch-2 will serve to fill that space once you join…
- ch-2 and turn
- Repeat Row 2 until the scarf measures about 7″ wide (or your desired width)
- Tie off end
- Weave in all loose ends with a darning/yarn needle
