**Free Pattern**
The Up-Down Crochet Dishcloth pattern uses 2 familiar stitches… the half-double crochet and slip stitches to create this pretty dishcloth. As you combine these two foundational crochet stitches you will see a beautiful texture immerge in this crochet dishcloth. This has recently become one of my favorites to use in a number of places like crochet blankets and ear bands.

Supplies:
1 ball of 100% cotton yarn

- 5.5 mm crochet hook – Susan Bates with soft handle (***Buy on Amazon Here: https://amzn.to/4033SD0)
- Darning/yarn needle (*** Buy on Amazon Here: https://amzn.to/3SuGNGu)

Abbreviations:
- ch – chain
- st – stitch
- sc – single crochet stitch
- hdc – half-double crochet stitch
- sl-st – slip stitch
- [xx] – number of finished stitches in a row

Pattern Instructions:
- ch 27, turn
- Row 1 – sc into the 2nd ch from hook and each ch there after. [26 stitches]
- ch 2 and turn
- Row 2 – hdc into the first st, *sl-st into next, hdc into next*, repeat between * * until the end of the row [26]. You will end with the sl-st at the end of the row.
- ch 2 and turn
- Rows 3- end – Repeat Row 2 until washcloth measures about 7″ – 8″ square (approx 26-28 rows)
- Last row – Ch 1 and turn, sl-st into first st, *hdc into next, sl-st into next*, repeat between * * until the end of the row [26] – This will even out the edge of the washcloth.
- Finish with a sl-st in the final st; pull through and secure
- Weave in all loose ends with a darning/yarn needle
**Make sure to count your stitches on each row to be [26] before you proceed to the next. This will ensure your washcloth is square 🙂
